Grats on converting what you have already. I know the process is always a pain in the ass (hence the grats). The grats though, doesn\'t go towards the theme/layout/whatever. I personally do not like it at all. We are Nodekians, we don\'t need bells and whisels! Please go back, I like the old. If you think I am the only one... PUT UP A POLL, you\'ll be surprised!

I like it. I think it actually looks pretty smooth. It\'s easier to navigate, and everythings just looks a little better. Nothing wrong with imagery, if it were bells and whistles it would have flash players and songs gallore.

Honestly, from the poll, and the obviously sparse amount of people actually appearing to use this new site, it might not be a bad idea to listen to Cehotec heh.

Personally, I don\'t see the point of a fancy new site if it lacks the functionality of the old one.

Explain lacks functionality.
The boards in general are no different content wise to the old one... there are bits that don\'t work on it I grant you, such as the go to the last post button.

The site on the other hand is still missing the ranks, which he has said he will move... what else?
Instead of bitching about it why not tell him what you want from the place, create a list of things for him to look into...

I can understand that perhaps the forums were being hacked or abused or whatever and needed to be replaced, but surely that doesn\'t require bulldozing everything good as well.

Well personaly I would have gone with vBullitin myself on theforum basis... I once offered the use of a fully purchased copy all that need paying was the update/tech sup annual subscription. As to the other stuff time to go poke him in the side and wake him up to the situation...

The new layout sucks. Or an analogy, fuck vista I like xp. Seriouslly, I know we are basically migrating from phpNuke (or what have you) to Joomla/Mambo. 1. This is a column, you can see the boarder, you know it isnt part of anything else.
2. This is a section within 1, it has a style for its name SO YOU CAN FUCKING TELL WHAT IT IS.
3. Here is some interesting shit that doesnt blend with everything.
4444444444444. This is a WIDE content box, it can show shit at a wide scale, NOTICE how each 4 has a style which allows you to see when a new one starts?
5555555555555. Holy fucking shit, detailed info about 4 and within 4, NO CONFUSION HERE ON WHAT BELONGS TO WHAT.

On the subject of the ranks system on 411, before its moved over I do believe it needs to be fixed.
I would love to know how one minute I can be ahead of someone who has not been in game since last November and then next time I go look that person is above me in the ranks... too me there is no logical explanation for this.

Cehotec basically has it. While this site has some hip grays and blacks, the old one was much easier to read and navigate. I'm not just saying this because I got used to the old one - the text and overall content, in general, is harder to read and navigate now than it was before.

Porting over before full new site functionality wasn't the best idea either.

Now, don't get me wrong - aesthetically, this site is very pleasing and n411 remains a fantastic resource for nodeka players and I really appreciate all the work that you've put into the site. But can we please just go back to the old one, at least for now, while you work on addressing some of the complaints?

I did design this theme, this isn\'t just a downloaded theme i modified, this is completely built from the ground up using photoshop, html and css. The forum theme is one that was downloaded and modified, but not the main theme on the front page.

I\'ve already brightened up the text a bit on the whole site. Made it a brighter shade of white so it should be easier to see. I plan on sticking with Joomla as the main CMS for the website but like Serenity said, we are looking into integrating vBulletin into the site and probably just making the forum look like the old but leaving this main website theme as is.

Grats on the forum. Fix the main theme and we'll be in there like swimwear.

Nem does not have the time, and is a little reluctant to change that part unless someone comes up with something else.

I have no plans really to change to an entirely new design for the front site, but I've tried to make it as readable as possible by increasing the line spacing. Aside from that, try working with me and give me suggestions on what you think would make the site more readable, increasing the font size? or what. I also changed it so the links are underlined so they stand out more.

And because of the style of theme it is, i cannot just flip a switch and make it 100% width, it has to be fixed or theme doesn't look right.
