Renown: Renown is a measure of your reputation and notoriety. As you increase your renown, the benefits grow as well, granting you an increase in the acquisition of both experience and gold. However, even the most noble or notorious reputation requires maintenance - renown decays slowly over time. While renown may be garnered from a number of sources, it is most commonly acquired by defeating a well-matched foe in player combat. Thus, it provides a link between player-killing prowess and gold/experience acquisition. Finally, remember that rumor and repute can whisper your praises one minute and set a knife to your ribs the next. Any foe that defeats you in player combat and gains renown from it will ALSO steal all of your accumulated renown. [ Acquiring Renown ] Renown is usually acquired through defeating your opponents in player combat. In order to gain renown from a player kill, the following must be true: - You must be able to gain RP from that player kill (see 'help rpable pkills'). - That player must be well-matched, with a rank of no less than 80% of yours. Renown can be gained in group player combat as well. In that case, only the eligible members of your group will be considered; a base amount of renown is gained by each eligible participant, and then the bulk of the renown is split evenly. The amount of renown gained is proportional to the ratio of your opponent's rank compared to yours. If a defeated opponent was worth any renown AND possessed some renown of his or her own, then all of that renown is stolen and added to your renown reward (or distributed among your group). [ Losing Renown ] As mentioned above, you will lose all of your renown to any opponent who defeats you in player combat and gains renown for it. In addition, renown decays slowly over time, at the rate of 2 points per tick. [ Benefits of Renown ] Your renown pool provides you with the following benefits: - Increased gold and experience when killing mobs - Increased gold and experience when nimming mobs The benefit percentage is equal to 1% per 100 points of renown. Currently, renown caps at 2500 points. You can see both your renown total and your benefit percentage in your score sheet (type 'score'). [ Viewing Other Player's Renown ] The 'rpable pks' command will display a list of players who are worth RP to you if you defeat them. It will also show whether each of those players is large enough to be worth any renown to you (these opponents will be tagged 'worthy'). Finally, it will display each of those players' current renown as well as their current rank.
